This show is also known as: Kvothe, You Gotta Hit That, Man!

In this third installment of the Book Club, Joel and Jon discuss Johnny Ryan’s History of the Internet and Patrick Rothfuss’ Name of the Wind. Nobody has sex in either of these books, which is a real tragedy. Listen in for talk of acronyms, internet regulation, magical desk lamps, and salacious train commutes. Also gravy, because we think it’s important to keep the “giving” in “Thanksgiving.” As in, “keep on giving me more food covered in gravy.” How else are you supposed to put on 15 pounds in six weeks?

How is this not a romance novel?

Music selection: We are living, living in the nineties.

This show is about:

SPOILER ALERT: Wizards.

What is this mysterious “vulman book” you mentioned? I want to laugh at a big book too!

It’s December’s book, _Rising Up and Rising Down_ (Abridged Edition) by William Vollmann. It’s a tough read for a number of reasons, and the abridged is nowhere as good as the unabridged, I’m finding, but I still argue it’s worth reading. You’re invited to pick it up and join the discussion on the forum!
